This is not typical methodology for me when issues arrise, however, this soapbox was one I felt needed sharing with the community.
I want to be very careful how I state what is on my opinion plate, as I believe trading bad for bad doesn’t help the issue find resolution. As well, I am not pro or anti Martha Stewart, what I am against is the verbal degrading that has begun to circulate in derogatory tones towards store owners and scrapbooking or scrapbookers. Not only do I make my living from this industry, but many of my dearest associations have been met amongs fellow retailers and scrapbookers. I know personally many brilliant and talented men and women, scrapbookers, consultants, business people, artists, and so on. What I do is near my heart as an artist, designer, business woman and mother. Scrapbooking is more than a craft or hobby. It is a way for us as a human race to connect the generations. No matter the terminology we use for what it is – craft, hobby, paper craft artist or what have you — it is a worthwhile pursuit. Degrading it degrades us, who we are and what we do, how we feel, how we live.

Again, please remember it is not my intent to start a Martha-slam-athon, rather to speak up and support what is, and has been, an industry of intent and value for many long years.
